Job summary

Nextonic Solutions in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Computer Systems Analyst to support the NIH IRP at the NIA, focusing on DNA sequence analysis tools developed in C and Perl, and to manage large genomic datasets. You will install and maintain Oracle Database systems, map genetic positions, and collaborate with scientists across labs on data integration and longitudinal studies.

The role requires hands-on coding, data interpretation, and translating complex genetic data into accessible software

Qualifications

Proficiency in C and Perl for DNA sequence analysis.
Experience organizing interpretation of cDNA and mouse genomic DNA.
Familiarity with database systems and genetic data management.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain DNA sequence analysis software tools in C and Perl.
Organize interpretation of cDNA samples and large mouse genomic DNA tracts.
Sustain nucleic acid and protein analysis programs and submit annotated sequences to databases.
Install and maintain Oracle Database systems and support lab interfaces.
Develop STSs/ESTs from cDNAs and map data to mouse chromosomes.
Advise on adapting genetic mapping packages for linkage and aging-related studies.
Collaborate with scientists needing computer-based gene and DNA analysis guidance.
