Job description

The Department of Urology at Stanford University seeks a board-certified or board-eligible urologist with subspecialty training in genitourinary reconstructive surgery (GURS) and gender-affirming surgery to join the Department as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Clinician Educator (CE) line. The faculty position will develop a clinical practice focused on complex genitourinary reconstruction and gender-affirming urologic surgery. The candidate will join an established multidisciplinary gender-affirming surgery program that brings together urologic surgery, plastic & reconstructive surgery, gynecologic surgery, and additional specialties, as well as the opportunity to help shape the program’s growth.

The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-volume, academically oriented reconstructive urology practice at a leading academic medical center. The practice location will be at Stanford Healthcare including Stanford’s main campus and Stanford’s Redwood City campus. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of one of the nation’s premier academic departments at Stanford University, where clinical excellence, research innovation, and outstanding education are at the core of our mission.

The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Individuals appointed as Clinical Assistant Professors should have demonstrated exceptional qualities and promise to become outstanding clinicians, teachers, institutional leaders, and/or scholars. If these individuals have not had formal teaching experience, they should have demonstrated a commitment to develop the skills necessary for outstanding teaching. They must have demonstrated excellence or promise of excellence in a combination of clinical performance, teaching, administration and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need upon which the appointment will be based. Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful applicant should be board-certified or board-eligible with an MD or MD/PhD (or equivalent) and fellowship training in GURS and gender affirming surgery. The candidate will engage in teaching and serve as an integral member of our training programs. The candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to clinical research alongside nationally recognized urology faculty.

  • Clinician Educator appointment in the Stanford School of Medicine.
