Job summary

Adaptive Biotechnologies is seeking an Appeals Specialist to manage insurance claim appeals for molecular and genetic testing services. You will prepare and submit appeals, track status, and collaborate with billing, prior authorization, and payer relations teams to resolve denials efficiently.

Responsibilities include reviewing denials, gathering documentation, ensuring timeliness, and staying compliant with HIPAA and payer guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 2 years in insurance appeals, medical billing, or revenue cycle operations.
• Strong understanding of insurance processes and denial management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in billing systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Appeal Submission: Review denied claims and determine strategy; prepare and submit appeal letters with supporting documentation; ensure submissions meet payer timelines.
• Post-Submission Follow-Up: Track appeal status, contact payers, and escalate as needed.
• Research & Compliance: Stay current on payer policies for molecular/genetic testing; ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work with prior authorization, billing, and payer relations teams; gather documentation; communicate with providers for additional information.
