Job summary

Myriad Genetics Inc. is seeking a NGS/Genetic Data Analyst in Salt Lake City. The role supports the Data Review team with clinical education and data analysis for prenatal genetics and hereditary cancer risk assessment. The position requires hybrid work with at least 2 days onsite and occasional weekend shifts.

The analyst will ensure compliance with lab policies, participate in QA, and assist in proficiency testing and training as part of ongoing competency development.

Qualifications

• Meets minimum regulatory education requirements as listed above for laboratory roles.
• Minimum of 6 months clinical lab experience as part of the stated requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complying with the laboratory's technical, administrative and safety policies and procedures.
• Participating in the laboratory's quality assurance plan and documenting quality control activities.
• Following policies when test systems are not within acceptable limits and documenting issues and corrective actions.
• Troubleshooting problems that may affect test performance or reporting and initiating corrective action.
• Performing proficiency testing in the same manner as routine samples.
• Participating in training and competency assessments as outlined in the lab programs.
• Working under supervision if competency is not yet approved by supervision.
• Participating in continuing education according to laboratory standards.
• Participates in department and cross-functional teams to resolve problems or implement projects.

Education

Doctorate (Ph.D., M.D. or D.O.) in medicine, clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science, or,

Master's degree in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science, or,

Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science

Education and training equivalent to a bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science with completion of at least 24 semester hours of science or laboratory courses.

The Myriad Women's Health Regional Medical Specialist (MWH RMS) is a strategic and critical position within the company, responsible for providing clinical education and support on prenatal genetics and hereditary cancer risk assessment and management, to healthcare providers and key opinion leaders. The MWH RMS supports three products: Myriad myRisk® hereditary cancer panel (including riskScore®), Myriad Prequel™ NIPS screen and Myriad Foresight® carrier screening panel.

The Data Review team at Myriad Genetics is looking for a NGS/Genetic Data Analyst to join our team as we continue to grow. This position will be hybrid and require at least 2 days per week onsite in our Salt Lake City office, it will also require a Saturday or Sunday shift. The position offers flexibility to work 5 8 hour shifts or 4 10 hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Complying with the laboratory's technical, administrative and safety policies and procedures.
• Participating in the laboratory's quality assurance plan, adhering to quality control and preventive maintenance policies and appropriately documenting these activities.
• Following the laboratory's policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within acceptable limits and documenting the problem and any corrective action.
• Troubleshooting and identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance and/or reporting of test results by initiating corrective action and using the defined electronic system to make the required management notification.
• Performing proficiency testing in the same manner as routine samples.
• Actively participating in successful and timely completion of training and competency assessment as outlined in the laboratory and departmental training programs.
• Where competency has not been approved by supervision, will work under the direct supervision of an employee competent on the task.
• Participating in continuing education according to accepted laboratory standards.
• Participates in department and cross functional teams to resolve problems or implement projects.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science, or,
  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science
  • Education and training equivalent to a bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science with completion of at least 24 semester hours of science or laboratory courses.
• Meets minimum internal education and experience requirements:
  • 6 months clinical lab experience

Physical & Lifting Requirements

• Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pound of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently.
• Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching and repetitive motion.
• Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
• Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I - duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
