Job summary

Jefferson University Physicians is seeking a Genetic Counselor II in Philadelphia to lead genetic services for patients and the care team. You will provide comprehensive genetic counseling, supervise junior staff, and participate in education and research initiatives within the department.

The role requires a Master’s in Genetic Counseling, 3–5 years’ experience, and board certification with licensure in PA/NJ (Delaware if indicated).

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling required.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in genetic counseling.
  • Board Certified Genetic Counselor with PA/NJ licensure (Delaware if indicated).
  • Lead resource for cancer genetics within the care team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead resource for genetics for patients, providers, and community.
  • Proficient in utilization of EMR and presenting cases at weekly conference.
  • On-board and supervise new GC and GCA staff.
  • Participate in genetic research and community education; contribute to clinical committees.

Provides all aspects of genetic counseling including extensive family history, counseling patients and/or families regarding suspected hereditary syndromes, recommending gene testing when appropriate and explaining results to patients with recommendations for screening and risk reduction. Provides education for students enrolled in GC programs and mentors new genetic counselors.
