Job summary

Generac is seeking an experienced generator installation technician in Marlboro Township, New Jersey, to install manual and automatic standby generators for residential and commercial customers. The ideal candidate will have experience specifically with Generac models, along with a strong commitment to safety and technical proficiency in installation practices.

Core responsibilities include executing electrical wiring plans, installing equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. A flexible schedule and attention to detail are essential for success in this role, as most installations involve residential systems.

Qualifications

  • Experience in generator systems, especially Generac models.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations.
  • Demonstrable ability to read electrical drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Execute plans of electrical wiring for standby power systems.
  • Install generators, transfer switches and associated equipment.
  • Connect wiring in electrical circuits ensuring compatibility of components.
  • Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them.

Skills

Proven experience as an electrician
Experience in residential and commercial generator installations
Ability to use electrical and hand tools

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced generator installation technician to undertake a variety of tasks relating to the installation of manual and automatic standby generators and transfer switches. Your job will involve installing electrical wiring in buildings and outdoors, installing generators, transfer switches, and electrical services for residential and commercial customers. Due to the high amount of risk associated with this work, electricians must be responsible individuals with great attention to safety precautions. The ideal candidate must have experience in generator systems, especially Generac models. Most installations will involve residential air-cooled automatic standby generators.

Responsibilities
  • Execute plans of electrical wiring for well-functioning standby power systems.
  • Install generators, transfer switches and associated equipment.
  • Install safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, circuit‑breaker panels).
  • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components.
  • Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them.
Skills
  • Proven experience as an electrician.
  • Experience in residential and commercial (new and old work) generator installations.
  • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g., wire strippers, voltmeters) and to read electrical drawings and blueprints.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving ability.
  • Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work overtime.
  • Clean driver’s license.
