Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) in Florida seeks a hands-on Generator Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while delivering exceptional customer service. You will travel locally in IPS service vehicles and work with top technicians using the latest tools to resolve issues and keep clients operating.

You’ll need a technical background in generators or diesel power, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work after hours; safety and customer focus are essential as you

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a technical school with generators, diesel, or power technology.
  • 3+ years of generator maintenance/repair experience.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license and ability to travel in a company vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain DOT medical certification.
  • Ability to read schematics and safety manuals.
  • Willingness to work after hours/on-call as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to work in demanding conditions and weather.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance including oil/filter changes, spark plug changes, coolant and filter checks.
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical systems visually.
  • Clean oil, fuel, air filters, cooling system, and exterior of units.
  • Test load bank, ATS, and perform function testing.
  • Troubleshoot alternators, wiring, switches, switchgear, battery systems, engine, ATS.
  • Diagnose failures using meters and diagnostic tools.
  • Assist with commissioning and start-up activities: design review, testing, switchgear, network.
  • Maintain clear reports and communicate issues/resolutions to customers.
  • Travel locally in company vehicle to service sites and maintain vehicle inventory.

You’ll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while delivering top‑notch service to our customers. You’ll be able to work alongside some of the best technicians in the industry utilizing the latest technology tools and equipment. Responsibilities & Expectations
  • Preventative maintenance: scheduled services for oil & filter changes, change spark plugs, check coolant and filters
  • Inspections: visual inspections on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Cleaning: oil, fuel, and air filters, cooling system, and outside of the unit
  • Testing: Load bank, automatic transfer switch (ATS), and function testing
  • Troubleshooting: alternators, wiring harness, switches, switchgear, battery systems, engine, ATS
  • Diagnosis: failure analysis, battery systems using multimeter and other meter tools
  • Commissioning & Start Ups: design review, testing, switchgear, program control panel, and network
  • Brands: Kohler/Rehlko, CAT, Cummins, Generac, Deere, Onan, MTU, Volvo, Mitsubishi, Detroit Diesel, Asco, Atlas Copco, etc. up to 2.5 meg
  • Customer Service: communicate all information to customers in a way they understand the issues & resolutions
  • Documentation: complete reports on the work you have completed
  • Company vehicle: must be able to travel in a company service vehicle throughout the local counties, maintain vehicle inventory, and safety maintenance
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Graduation from a technical school is desired to include generators, diesel, power gen, electric power, relay, or substation technology, etc.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience in repair or maintenance of generators, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience operating a vehicle with a valid, unrestricted driver’s license
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record with the ability to obtain a DOT medical certification
  • Ability to service clients after hours and on‑call as needed
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, operating manuals, and safety guidelines
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 75 lbs. in weight
  • Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
