Job summary

Latentlabs in the United States is seeking a highly skilled machine learning researcher with a strong background in generative modeling to design novel protein-generating models. You will work with an interdisciplinary team of ML researchers, protein engineers and biologists to create models that guide wet-lab experiments.

You will build scalable ML pipelines, contribute to publications and open-source work, and help advance synthetic biology through breakthrough generative approaches.

Qualifications

• You are a strong ML researcher with significant experience in generative modeling.
• You write robust, tested ML code and can run training/inference on cloud hardware.
• You build ML data pipelines and optimize models for speed and performance.
• You are curious, mission-driven and able to adapt to fast-paced, interdisciplinary work.

Responsibilities

• Build machine learning models that work in the physical world (~90% of your time).
• Curate training/evaluation data and develop realistic metrics aligned with real-world success.
• Prototype generative models and analyze improvements against lead metrics.
• Collaborate in a shared codebase with researchers, engineers, and protein designers.
• Maintain ML infrastructure and support wet-lab integration for targets.
• Learn from wet-lab results to iteratively improve models.
• Develop knowledge-sharing activities and stay current with ML advances.
