Job summary

Photon in Dallas, Texas is seeking a Software Engineer - AI/RAG to design, build, and operate reusable Gen AI RAG toolkits and API-based services using Python/Scala/Java, FastAPI, and modern frameworks.

You will collaborate with product teams, data analysts, and data scientists across large multi-repo projects, mentor junior engineers, and champion CI/CD, code quality, and robust testing to ensure scalable, maintainable solutions.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant experience
• Experience in Semantic Search, data processing, Data & Analytics, Data pipeline
• OOP in Python/Scala/Java with expert-level development skills
• Hands-on experience with generative AI RAG processes for chunking, embedding, retrieval, reranking, and summarization
• Experience with API-based applications using FastAPI, JWT Integration, API Gateway
• Develop utilities, automation frameworks, and data science platforms for AI/ML and GenAI
• Experience with AI/ML lifecycle management, MLOps, fine-tuning and inference frameworks
• CI/CD, multi-repo teams, VS Code, and enterprise DevOps tools

Responsibilities

• Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a story per acceptance criteria.
• Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components and interfaces.
• Mentors other engineers and coaches the team on CI/CD practices.
• Executes story refinement and estimates work for delivery lifecycle.
• Performs spikes/proofs of concept to mitigate risk or test ideas.
• Automates manual release activities.
• Designs and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance).
• Performs CI/CD activities and participates in story refinement.
• Collaborates with product teams, data analysts, and data scientists to design solutions.
• Uses multiple architectural components across data, applications, and business areas in design and development of requirements.
