Job summary

MITRE's Generative and Agentic AI Engineering Department designs AI solutions for U.S. government sponsors, applying LLMs, GenAI, and AI/ML to mission-critical challenges.

The role involves research, prototyping, evaluating, and integrating AI capabilities; leading cross-functional teams and delivering prototypes with real mission data on-site.

Candidates should have 5+ years in related fields, strong ML/NLP, and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance; on-site work three days weekly.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3 years with a Master's, or a PhD.
• Demonstrated recent experience with large language model (LLM) technology applications in R&D or operational settings.
• Demonstrated experience in prototyping/developing AI components/systems that align with department capabilities.
• Ability to apply state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to data and natural language processing challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; eligible for Top Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement AI solutions leveraging GenAI, LLMs, and agentic AI.
• Analyze data and language processing needs and propose innovative solutions for mission-critical problems.
• Prototype AI/GenAI systems based on workflow analysis and deliver prototypes using mission data.
• Evaluate technology solutions in the context of mission data and provide actionable recommendations.
• Convey complex ideas to non-technical audiences through briefings or white papers.
• Lead or contribute to small technical teams to solve challenges using GenAI capabilities.
• Leverage MITRE's AI Sandbox and platform to support R&D and evaluation of generative AI capabilities.
