D&W Fine Pack LLC in Indiana seeks a Human Resources leader to align practices with an employee-oriented, high-performance culture emphasizing safety, quality and productivity. This role reports to the Human Resources Manager and drives recruitment, development and retention across the plant.

You will oversee safety programs, workers' compensation and OSHA compliance, manage employee relations, onboarding, training, and HR data reporting while partnering with operations to anticipate workforce

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years HR experience and 1 year training & development.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills; MS Office and HRIS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HR practices to foster safety, quality and productivity culture.
  • Coordinate recruitment and job postings; screen & interview applicants.
  • Develop job descriptions and onboarding materials; conduct orientation for new hires.
  • Plan and conduct onboarding for direct hires and temporary conversions; manage OBT programs.
  • Administer workers' compensation and OSHA programs and ensure compliance with laws.
  • Advise management on employee relations issues; conduct investigations and provide recommendations.
  • Prepare and distribute employee communications; maintain employee records and reports.
  • Oversee FMLA, STD/LTD, ADA and personal leave of absence processes.

Job description

The purpose of this position is to lead Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes safety, quality and productivity, and facilitate recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager.

Safety

  • Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines
  • Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately
  • Support company Food Safety efforts through commitment and compliance to SQF standard practices and policies
  • Follow plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP’s

Responsibilities

  • Maintains effective positive communication with staff at all levels of the organization, including interaction with upper level management
  • Participate in plant safety committee meetings
  • Coordinate annual hearing testing, safety shoe vendor, and other proactive safety measures
  • Administer worker’s compensation and OSHA programs and ensure compliance with state/federal mandated laws
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of requisitions, job postings and external advertising/recruiting
  • Develop recruiting plans, create job descriptions, screen & interview applicants
  • Plans and conducts orientation and on-boarding for new employees (direct hires and temporary conversions) and ensures effective OBT programs are in place
  • Liaison between temporary agencies and operations
  • Assists supervisors and managers with workforce planning
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs
  • Prepare & distribute employee communication
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
  • Completes investigations, reports and recommendations on employee relations issues
  • Oversees employee records and processes related to employment, leaves of absences, unemployment and workers' compensation
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations and ensures compliance
  • Administers exit procedures for separating employees and ensures all terminations are handled appropriately
  • Administer leadership training programs and facilitate workshops
  • Coaches supervisors on employee relations issues and performance documentation processes
  • Coordinates employee culture building events and recognition programs to support retention & engagement
  • Prepares regular and ad hoc reports; as management team requests
  • Handles phone inquiries and correspondence for the Human Resources department
  • Oversee FMLA, STD/LTD, ADA, and Personal Leave of Absence claims

While performing the duties of this position, the employee’s work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Employee is expected to maintain an organized work area and contribute to the overall decorum of a professional setting. A minimal amount of work will require exposure to the manufacturing facility. Employee is expected to be familiar and in compliance with all plant safety and cleanliness (GMP) regulations. Work days are generally Monday through Friday; however, the employee is expected to work additional, including weekend hours as required fulfilling job duties.

Customer service orientation, including ability to communicate effectively and work with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Ability to maintain confidentiality

SPHR or PHR preferred
