Job summary

Canton Public Schools Canton High School in Canton, Massachusetts is seeking a General Worker Food Service for 3.5 hours per day during the school year. You will work under the Manager and Assistant Manager performing general kitchen work and customer service at a school in the district.

Responsibilities include food preparation, serving, cleanup, and operating equipment, as well as using Nutrikids POS to process transactions and reconcile cash for catering provided by the Food Service

Qualifications

• Experience in the school lunch program or quantity food preparation in large-scale settings is strongly recommended.
• Experience with a computerized point of sale system (Nutrikids) or similar.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation, serving, kitchen cleanup and equipment cleaning.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as slicer, mixer, steamer and ovens.

Job Description

Job Summary:

The school food service staff member works under the direct supervision of the Manager and Assistant Manager and perform general kitchen work and customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Works as a team member by assisting in food preparation, serving, kitchen clean-up and the cleaning of various kitchen equipment.
• Operates various pieces of kitchen equipment such as slicer, mixer, steamer and ovens.
• Use Nutrikids Computerized Point of Sale System to process transactions and reconcile cash. Perform food preparation and other work associated with catering provided by the Food Service Department within the district at varying times during the school year.
• Able to provide exceptional customer service

Physical Qualifications:

• Able to work in standing position for prolonged periods
• Able to lift material weighing up to 45 pounds
• Exposed to heat while cooking and preparing foods
• Has manual dexterity to handle knives and other pieces of kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and steamers
• Hazards may include, but are not limited to cuts from knives and slicers, burns

Educational Qualifications:

• Experience in the school lunch program, quantity food preparation in a hospital, industrial, or other large-scale feeding operation is strongly recommended
• Experience with a computerized point of sales system
