Job summary

Carmeuse in River Rouge, MI, seeks a GUP/Truck Loader to inspect and clean rail equipment, maintain conveyor areas, and support safety programs. The role includes pre-shift reports, operating mobile machinery, and reporting any process or product non-conformities.

Responsibilities cover equipment inspections, safety participation, site cleanliness, and occasional heavy lifting. A background check and drug screen are required; shift timings are 7pm–7am or 7am–7pm based on internal bidding.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work shift work with rotating schedule.
• Required to achieve a passing score on an Entry-Level Basic Skills test to be considered for employment.
• Pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen required; facility is drug- and alcohol-free.

• Run sweeper, water truck and track mobile equipment.
• Load dust and lime trucks.
• Gather samples and report non-conformities related to products or processes.

Job Description

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the GUP/Truck Loader is directly responsible for the inspection and cleaning of rail equipment, the clean-up around conveyor belts and machinery, and performing various tasks throughout the plant. Observes, monitors and reports any conditions that could lead to product non-conformity or other irregularity. Completes all required equipment pre-shift reports on any mobile machinery operated. This position has the organizational ability and authority, as defined by the Plant Production Supervisor, to participate in the implementation of safety programs to ensure the safety of all employees. This position is also specifically given the responsibility and authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product or process, or to the quality system, and to initiate, recommend or provide solutions.
