Job summary

Carmeuse in Michigan is seeking a general plant laborer to support production operations and maintain clean, safe work areas. The role covers rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and requires attentiveness to safety procedures and reporting of any irregularities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• General plant labor and cleanup of production areas; observe, monitor and report any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity.
• Trained in various entry-level production positions and fill in as needed during vacations and high production.
• Perform kiln outage work including removal and installation of kiln refractory.
• Report equipment problems to management.
• Complete pre-shift equipment reports where applicable.
• Maintain clean work areas and facilities.
• Operate small front end loader and shovel stone around conveyors.
• Replace or assist other workers as needed and directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications:

• Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights & weekends, etc.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization.
• Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
