Job summary

Disney Cruise Line seeks a General Technician Shipwide to install, operate and strike audio, video, lighting, and other entertainment systems across shipwide events. You will conduct preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure smooth performances.

The role requires knowledge of live sound, lighting operation, and the ability to manage wireless microphones on a mobile, shipboard environment. This is a demanding, shipboard position with unique safety and housing considerations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience in a relevant entertainment-based environment.
  • Knowledge of computer systems or computerized control systems.
  • Trade school or college diploma (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Report equipment and consumable challenges.
  • Provide preventative maintenance and routine repair of shipwide equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of shipwide booths and lockers.
  • Assist with contingency plans.

Job description

As General Technician Shipwide, you provide technical assistance for shipwide and island entertainment events by setting up, operating, and striking audio, video, lighting, and other entertainment technical systems, along with preventative maintenance and routine repairs.

Responsibilities
  • Install, set up, operate and strike equipment for assigned shipwide and island events
  • Handle heavy equipment and road cases
  • Manage the daily use of wireless microphones, including frequency tuning, power management, and signal path
  • Mix live audio with digital audio consoles
  • Perform sound/mic checks for shipwide venues and performers
  • Operate lighting consoles for intelligent and conventional fixtures
  • Report equipment and consumable challenges
  • Provide preventative maintenance and routine repair of all shipwide equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of shipwide booths and lockers
  • Assist with contingency plans
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of experience in a relevant entertainment-based environment
  • Knowledge of computer systems or computerized control systems
  • Trade school or college diploma (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license
Shipboard Requirements
  • General Technician role is shipboard; you must be willing to live and work aboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
  • Willingness to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated duties as specified in the Ship Assembly Plan and Safety Management System
  • Ability to share a confined cabin with other crew members and to work in a multicultural environment with strict rules and regulations
Pre‑Employment Requirements
  • Valid passport and C1/D Seaman’s visa (DCL will assist with obtaining documents)
  • Completion of a pre‑employment medical examination
  • Criminal background check
  • Approved work shoes supplied by the employer
