We are highly focused and, among other efforts, currently operate a dozen active test and/or training ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy. Our 37-year heritage is founded on supporting complex and diverse DoD programs and we’ve developed a standout reputation for providing the highest quality services, superior workmanship and cost-effective results while achieving complete customer satisfaction.

At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) at NAS Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports Test Wing Instrumentation Support Services for Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL), where we've been proudly supporting the mission continuously since 2015. For TWI, SA-TECH provides technical, engineering, supply, administrative, program analysis and management, and facility contractor support services. These efforts support the design, development, procurement, fabrication, installation, testing and evaluation, calibration, modification, operation, and maintenance of aircraft and uninstalled engine instrumentation.

The General Technician will perform general engineering support functions for wiring, sheet metal, electronics, drafting, instrumentation, structures, or machining disciplines and will assist Senior Engineering Techs and Engineers on projects by gathering materials and equipment from source locations and delivering to work/test locations and returning items to proper locations. The Technician must demonstrate the ability to perform a practical application of tools and techniques to assigned duties and will receive technical guidance from a supervisor or higher level-technicians. The technician’s work is reviewed at initiation for proper technique, and monitored for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments. You may also be asked to provide visitor control support as needed.

In this role, you will perform one or a combination of such typical duties as:

  • Wire various instrumentation packages
  • Wire various platforms; follow VX-23 and AID processes and procedures.
  • Aid the instrumentation operations engineers by maintaining, installing, calibrating, testing and troubleshooting F-35 instrumentation systems.
  • Support on-aircraft ground testing.
  • Perform instrumentation pre-flights, post-flights and test flight support (including loading and removing data cartridges and delivering them to data processing).
  • Some testing may be done at other test facilities and carriers, so some travel is required.
  • Perform work in the Instrumentation Lab (troubleshooting, installing and checking out instrumentation systems).
  • Conform to AVMI and LM FOD and tool control policies and all facets of security (physical, Automated Information System (AIS), document control, Communications Security (COMSEC), Operations Security (OPSEC), and security education requirements) as well as instrumentation quality assurance inspections.
Work Conditions:
  • Conditions will vary but most of the work will be performed in enclosed buildings.
  • Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. unassisted and 50-100 lbs. assisted by others.
  • Working hours are 0530 to 1500 or 0600-1530 with a sporadic need to work flex hours and possibly some overtime
