Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current, unrestricted Ohio Physician Assistant license.
• National NCCPA certification required.
• Surgical first-assist experience in general surgery, including robotic procedures.
• Ability to obtain hospital credentialing and privileges.

Responsibilities

• Serve as surgical first assistant for general surgery procedures, including open, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted surgery.
• Provide robotic bedside assistance with docking, instrument exchanges, exposure, and other tasks.
• Conduct office visits for surgical evaluations, preop and postop follow-ups, and ongoing management.
• Order and review labs, imaging, and tests; coordinate follow-up.
• Wound assessment and management, including dressing changes and suture removal.
• Prescribe medications within scope of practice and approved plans.
• Educate patients and families about surgery, recovery, and wound care.
• Respond to calls, recognize changes in condition, and involve the surgeon as needed.
• Participate in call rotation and coordinate care with OR staff and colleagues.
