West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery are seeking a General Surgeon with expertise and interest in minimally invasive hernia surgery and complex abdominal wall reconstruction. The successful candidate will be appointed at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments, and will practice in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Duties: The successful candidate will join a growing, multidisciplinary general surgery practice with a focus on hernia surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction, utilizing advanced robotic, laparoscopic, and open surgical techniques. The position offers the opportunity to help expand a specialized hernia and abdominal wall program within a collaborative academic environment.

In addition to providing high-quality, patient-centered surgical care, the successful candidate will actively participate in the academic missions of the Department of Surgery, including the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows. Opportunities for clinical research, quality improvement, program development, and academic advancement are also available.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a general surgery residency program. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in general surgery. Have fellowship training or substantial demonstrated clinical experience and case volume in complex hernia surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction. Experience with robotic and minimally invasive approaches to complex abdominal wall reconstruction is strongly preferred. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, specialized, multidisciplinary hernia practice committed to providing comprehensive care for patients with routine and complex abdominal wall disease. The program emphasizes minimally invasive and robotic approaches while offering the full spectrum of surgical options necessary to individualize treatment for each patient.

Faculty utilize advanced robotic, laparoscopic, endoscopic, and open surgical techniques to provide comprehensive surgical care to patients throughout West Virginia and the surrounding region.
