Job summary

Skilled Wound Care is seeking a General Surgeon in Austin, TX to lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities. The role offers a no-call lifestyle with weekday, part-time or full-time options, and clinical autonomy to manage bedside procedures and wound care protocols.

Qualifying candidates hold an MD or DO, possess an unrestricted medical license in Texas (or eligibility to obtain one), and may have a DEA license.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree: MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Medical License: Unrestricted/clear medical license in the state of practice (or eligibility to obtain one)
• DEA License: Or eligibility to obtain one
• Open Background: We welcome General Surgeons and surgeons of all backgrounds, as well as Family Medicine and Internal Medicine physicians. No previous wound care experience is required; we provide comprehensive wound care training

• Surgical debridement and bedside procedures
• Evaluation and treatment of chronic, non-healing and complex wounds
• Advanced dressings and specialized wound protocols
• Collaborative care in skilled nursing facilities and the post-acute setting, where you follow patients through healing

General Surgeon Salary & Compensation

Average Annual Earnings: $200,000-$250,000 (no earning cap as an independent contractor)

High Achievers: Top performers earn $300,000+ through performance bonuses

Pay Structure: Per-patient and per-procedure pay, plus quarterly bonus programs

General Surgeon Schedule

We offer consistent weekday schedules with no nights or weekends, in part-time or full-time options:

• Part-Time: 2-3 days per week
• Full-Time: 4-5 days per week
