Job summary

Smith Arnold Partners, a respected construction management firm, seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale commercial, healthcare, education, life sciences, corporate, and sports facilities.

The role requires 5–15 years of superintendent experience on $10M–$100M projects, OSHA 30-hour and STS-C certifications, and a degree in Engineering or Construction Management. CT-based, collaborative with owners, unions, and trade partners, with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–15 years leading superintendent roles on large commercial/industrial projects.
  • OSHA 30-hour and STS-C certified.
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed trained.
  • Strong knowledge of all construction divisions, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard construction software.
  • Experience supervising a project team and enforcing safety plans.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage trade contractors and sub-contractors to keep work on schedule and up to quality standards
  • Oversee the general conditions budget and jobsite logistics
  • Serve as the primary safety representative, driving a strong safety culture across all trades
  • Build and maintain the project schedule, including contingency planning
  • Lead daily huddles, pre-task planning, and regular contractor meetings
  • Maintain daily reports and documentation
  • Train and mentor Field Engineers and junior Superintendents
  • Support preconstruction planning, scope development, and buyout
  • Build strong relationships with owners, unions, trade partners, and the local community
