Position: General Superintendent
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Assisting in the development and execution of comprehensive construction project schedules and execution plans, ensuring all tasks are adequately planned and resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Supervision and Coordination: Overseeing and coordinating the activities of various construction teams, including subcontractors, ensuring they adhere to project schedule milestones, and all applicable quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Quality Control: Monitoring the quality of workmanship and materials used in construction, conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Safety Management: Implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel on-site, including workers, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Cost Control: Monitoring project expenses, controlling costs, and optimizing resource utilization to maximize profitability and ensure the project remains within budgetary constraints.
  • Problem‑solving: Addressing any issues or conflicts that arise during the construction process promptly and effectively, finding practical solutions to keep the project on track.
  • Client Communication: Interface with clients as needed, providing updates on project progress, addressing any concerns or inquiries they may have, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the construction process.
  • Team Leadership: Providing leadership and guidance to superintendents and construction teams, motivating them to perform at their best, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting teamwork and collaboration.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ensuring that Superintendents and field staff are maintaining accurate project documentation, including daily reports, schedule updates/look‑ahead logs, RFIs, change orders, and other relevant paperwork, and are providing timely and accurate reports to project stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Conducting regular inspections and evaluations to assess project progress, identifying potential risks associated with project execution and implementing measures to mitigate them effectively, minimizing the likelihood of accidents, delays, or cost overruns.
  • Training and Development: Assessing competency of superintendents and craft personnel to identify training and development needs; providing and/or coordinating training and development opportunities for Superintendents and craft personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively and safely.
  • Compliance: Implementing and enforcing company policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain a productive and safe work environment.
  • Conflict Resolution: Collaborating with field staff, project management, client personnel, engineering subcontractors, and other stakeholders to resolve any issues and optimize project performance.
  • Ensure all jobsite paperwork is properly filed and readily available. (T&M tickets, delivery tickets, daily reports, material transfer transmittals, etc.)
  • Verify work is complete before requesting inspection from QA/QC.
  • Represent Moore Industries to clients, subcontractors, and vendors in a professional, respectable manner.
  • Work with QA/QC to identify design/constructability issues and provide the most cost‑/schedule‑efficient solutions to conflicts.
  • Assist QA/QC in generating and reviewing all RFIs prior to submission to the client or EOR.
Personnel Management and Development
  • Provide support, training, and mentorship to current and future field supervisors.
  • Assess and develop current workforce and conduct annual performance evaluations for field supervision. Determine each supervisor’s strengths and weaknesses. Report findings back to the leadership team with recommendations on actions needed to strengthen competencies and overcome areas of weakness.
  • Interview and assist with hiring new field supervisors (i.e. superintendents, assistant superintendents, and foremen).
  • Ensure that field supervisors are developing and maintaining healthy client relations.
  • Identify craft personnel who possess the characteristics and desire to advance their career at Moore Industries.
  • Select field supervision (superintendents/foreman) for upcoming projects based on healthy alignment between the project parameters and the experience and competency level of available personnel.
Project Execution
  • Make routine site visits as needed to ensure that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and per QA/QC requirements.
  • Review contract documents for all active projects to possess an understanding of the scope of work and project requirements. Ensure that superintendents are carrying out their business accordingly.
  • Work with HR, project management, safety, and QA/QC departments to ensure that company policies and procedures are implemented and carried out.
  • Ensure that projects are adequately and appropriately staffed.
  • Provide feedback on project status to Project Management and Leadership Team.
  • Assist preconstruction by performing technical reviews of bid packages and provide feedback on means and methods, resource needs, schedule, and potential risks/opportunities.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a lead project superintendent in industrial and/or commercial construction.
  • Proven experience managing multiple job sites and field teams.
  • Must have intermediate to strong computer skills.
  • Must possess strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and be able to maintain a healthy working relationship with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Hold active TWIC credential.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred but not required.
