Job summary

U.S. Water Services Corporation is seeking a General Shop Laborer to support shop, warehouse, and maintenance tasks in a fast-paced environment. You will assist with cleaning, organizing, loading/unloading, moving equipment, and preparing tools for field service activities.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work well in a team, with an emphasis on following instructions and maintaining a clean workspace. Pay is hourly and benefits are comprehensive.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous general labor, shop, warehouse or maintenance experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely use basic hand tools and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist shop and maintenance personnel with daily tasks and projects.
• Load, unload, move, and organize tools, equipment, materials, parts, and supplies.

The General Shop Laborer is responsible for providing general support within the shop, warehouse, and maintenance areas. This position assists maintenance and shop personnel with cleaning, organizing, loading and unloading materials, moving equipment, preparing tools and supplies, and performing other general labor duties as assigned. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist shop and maintenance personnel with daily tasks and projects.


• Load, unload, move, and organize tools, equipment, materials, parts, and supplies.


• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop, warehouse, and work areas.


• Assist with the preparation of equipment, tools, and materials for field service and maintenance activities.


• Clean and prepare equipment, parts, tools, and work areas.


• Assist with basic maintenance activities under the direction of experienced personnel.


• Use hand tools and other shop equipment as directed.


• Assist with the disassembly, assembly, installation, and removal of equipment and components.


• Help receive, organize, and store parts and materials.


• Assist with inventory counts and maintaining proper organization of shop supplies.


• Dispose of waste, scrap materials, and debris in accordance with company and safety requirements.


• Operate carts, dollies, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment as trained and authorized.


• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.


• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).


• Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or potential hazards to management.


• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous general labor, shop, warehouse, construction, maintenance, or mechanical experience preferred but not required.


• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.


• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.


• Ability to safely use basic hand tools.


• Dependable, punctual, and able to work well with others.


• Strong attention to safety and maintaining a clean work environment.


• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision when assigned tasks are understood.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.


• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required.


• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier items.


• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.


• Ability to safely perform physical labor in a shop and field-support environment.

Work is primarily performed in a shop, warehouse, and maintenance environment, with occasional work outdoors and at job sites. The position may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, machinery, tools, chemicals, and varying weather conditions. Appropriate PPE and safety procedures are required at all times.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in a shop, warehouse, construction, utility, maintenance, or mechanical environment is a plus.
