The General Services Technician at The Westminster Schools plays a crucial support role in the day-to-day operations and special events that take place across the campus. This full-time, year-round position is responsible for event setup and takedown, campus-wide deliveries, inventory organization, and occasional shuttle driving. Working closely with the General Services Supervisor, the technician ensures that spaces are prepared and equipment is available for school functions, creating a well‑organized and responsive environment for students, faculty, staff, and guests.
The ideal candidate brings reliability, flexibility, and a service‑oriented mindset to a physically active and varied role. Success in this position requires strong time‑management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively. By facilitating events and maintaining essential operational logistics, the General Services Technician contributes directly to Westminster’s commitment to excellence in education and community engagement.
Supervisor: General Services Supervisor. Supervisory Responsibilities:None. Position Status:Hourly, Non‑exempt, Full‑time, 12‑month position.
Hours of Work:This is a full‑time, year‑round position. Standard work week with non‑traditional work hours expectations. Overtime is often required, sometimes with little or no notice. Evening and weekend work will be required during periods of heavy workload, campus special events, or facilities emergencies.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to become certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid is required.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions and frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
Westminster is a drug‑free, smoke/vape‑free campus.
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out‑of‑area travel may also be required, primarily associated with planned events, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Driving a Westminster vehicle may be required for this position.
