Job summary

Target is seeking a General Merchandise Expert to help create an easy and inspiring guest experience in our store. You will greet guests, help them find what they need, and support teammates across shifts to ensure product is available and easy to shop.

This role involves stocking, pricing, and maintaining the sales floor, with occasional backroom work and upholding safety policies. Flexible scheduling may be required.

Responsibilities

• Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by delivering on commitments.
• Greet: 10ft: be friendly – smile, make eye contact, or wave; 4ft: greet the guest, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interaction.
• Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to help achieve goals that align with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, pricing activities, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Learn and execute operational procedures such as setting and organizing merchandise, managing product accuracy and stock levels, and maintaining sales floor areas, affecting inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Follow all Target policies and safety procedures, adhere to role‑specific guidelines (e.g., food safety, pricing), and help maintain a safe, compliant workplace by reporting and correcting hazards.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders to guests) while maintaining compliance culture.
• All other duties based on business needs.
