3. General Mechanic# General MechaniclocationTOWN OF SPRINGFIELD MECHANIC The Town of Springfield, VT is seeking a highly motivated full-time Mechanic for the Public Works Department. Responsible for assisting the Chief Mechanic with major and routine maintenance and repair on all Town vehicles and equipment. Requires an in-depth knowledge of standards, practices and tools of the mechanic's trade, operating principles of gasoline and diesel engines, repair methods used on a variety of light and heavy mechanical equipment, ability to diagnose and locate defects in automotive and other equipment, weld gas and arc equipment, and experience as a journeyman mechanic or equivalent in training and experience. A High School Diploma/GED and a valid CDL (Level B) are required. Must have (or be able to obtain) a certificate to perform VT Motor Vehicle Inspections. A salary range of $21.04 - $22.75 per hour depending on experience. This is a non-exempt union position with excellent benefits.
