Position Overview

The General Manager is the senior business leader with full accountability for Warren Rupp’s strategy, performance, people, and profitability of ~$140M in annual revenue. Headquartered in Mansfield, Ohio, Warren Rupp is a key business within IDEX’s Severe Duty Flow Control platform and employs 175 team members. This on-site player/coach leads both commercial market execution and manufacturing operations, ensuring strong alignment between customer demand, operational execution, and financial performance. The General Manager is responsible for accelerating profitable growth, strengthening end-customer and channel engagement, improving operational performance through SIOP and continuous improvement disciplines, and developing a high-performing leadership team capable of scaling the business for the future.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead the business and own the P&L.
  • Deliver revenue growth, gross margin expansion, profitability, cash flow, and asset performance in alignment with annual operating plan commitments.
  • Make disciplined tradeoffs that balance near-term execution with long-term value creation.
  • Set strategy and translate it into execution.
  • Define, communicate, and embed a focused multi-year business strategy.
  • Convert strategic priorities into measurable actions, governance routines, KPIs, resource choices, and clear accountability.
  • Drive customer-centric commercial excellence.
  • Shape go-to-market strategies around end-customer needs, buyer behavior, channels, and geographies.
  • Build deep customer and distributor relationships, improve lead conversion and customer delivery, and connect commercial commitments to operational capacity.
  • Lead operational performance.
  • Maintain direct ownership for local manufacturing value streams, daily production performance, quality, delivery, safety, productivity, and working capital.
  • Ensure production schedules and capacity plans support customer commitments.
  • Own SIOP and continuous improvement.
  • Lead demand and supply balancing and establish rigorous operating rhythms using the IDEX Operating Model, SIOP, daily management, Gemba, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Simplify the business through 80/20.
  • Apply practical 80/20 principles to customers, products, value streams, and processes.
  • Reduce SKU, product-line, and transactional complexity; improve mix; eliminate waste; and focus resources on the critical few priorities.
  • Advance innovation and digital transformation.
  • Integrate product innovation, digital customer experiences, analytics, and appropriately governed AI-enabled improvements into the business strategy, with clear outcomes for growth, productivity, customer value, and profitability.
  • Build an aligned, high-performing organization.
  • Recruit, assess, develop, and retain an outstanding leadership team.
  • Create succession strength, clarify decision rights, reinforce accountability, and build capability across commercial, operational, engineering, and enabling functions.
  • Champion safety, compliance, and culture.
  • Set the standard for an incident-free workplace, ethical conduct, inclusion, and shared values.
  • Maintain visible leadership across shifts and functions, listen at the Gemba, and foster a team-first environment grounded in respect and collaboration.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Twelve or more years of progressive leadership experience in general management, operations, commercial leadership, strategy, corporate development, or related roles with increasing scope and demonstrated business impact with accountability for business performance, including P&L ownership in a global industrial or engineered products environment. Demonstrated P&L leadership and a track record of delivering profitable growth, margin expansion, and sustainable value creation. Proven ability to lead both commercial and operational functions and connect market commitments with manufacturing capacity and execution. Experience developing and executing organic growth strategies. Exposure to M&A, strategic partnerships, business case development, due diligence, or integration is preferred. Strong financial and commercial acumen, including strategic investment, capital allocation, pricing, portfolio, and performance decisions. Demonstrated success building leadership teams, developing talent, strengthening succession, and leading through organizational change. Experience influencing senior leaders and aligning cross‑functional, global teams in a matrixed organization. Ability to use market intelligence, customer insights, operational data, and performance metrics to make sound decisions and drive measurable outcomes. Working knowledge of digital transformation, analytics, and AI-enabled business applications, with the ability to connect technology investments to business value.

Work Environment and Travel

This is an on-site leadership position based in Mansfield, Ohio. Frequent travel is required, including domestic and international travel to customers, distributors, suppliers, IDEX locations, and other business partners.
