Scholar Hotels is seeking a seasoned General Manager in State College to oversee Rooms Division, Food & Beverage, Sales, Accounting, Human Resources and training across the property.

The successful candidate will lead operations, ensure guest service excellence, manage budgeting and standards, and drive team performance while upholding company policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising multiple departments (Front Desk, F&B, Administration) and coordinating with VP/Operations.
  • Strong leadership with ability to drive change in a high-paced luxury environment.
  • Knowledge of yield management principles and SOP development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Rooms Division, F&B, Sales, Accounting, HR & Training across the property.
  • Drive guest service excellence and ensure adherence to hotel standards.
  • Develop and enforce operating procedures and performance metrics.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead staff development, training, and cross-training initiatives.
  • Communicate goals and build a collaborative, customer-focused culture.

SUMMARY

The position will be responsible for supervising/managing/overseeing the following departments: Rooms Division (Front Desk, Guest Services, Bell, Security and Concierge) Food & Beverage (Restaurant, Room Service, Banquets, and Kitchen), Sales, Accounting, Human Resources & training property wide.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Guest Service
  • Maintains guest service as the driving philosophy of the operation
  • Personally demonstrates a commitment to guest service in responding promptly to guests' needs
  • Committed to making every guest is satisfied
  • Meets or exceeds guest satisfaction measures
  • Ensures hotel standards and services contribute to the delivery of consistent guest service
  • Implements and practices guest service initiatives and performs to Hotel Standards
General Manager
Job Requirements
  • Coordinate various Departments on behalf of VP of Operations.
  • Experience supervising Front Office, Food and Beverage, Administration, and related Departments.
  • Ability to assimilate operational statistics quickly and see how they can be used to enhance position of property.
  • Experience developing standards and operating procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of yield management principles.
  • Participate in meetings internally and externally to the property as required.

  • Ability to manage change effectively in a high paced luxury service environment.
  • Provide leadership to the departments to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Communicate the goals and objectives and inspire employees to achieve those goals.
