Job summary

Board & Brew in Del Mar, CA seeks a General Manager to own the day-to-day performance of the restaurant, including sales, labor and food costs, while delivering a great guest experience.

General Manager Job Description

As aBoard & BrewGeneral Manager, you own the day-to-day performance of your restaurant — sales, cost controls, team, and guest experience. You are responsible for leading and developing the Shift Supervisors, Kitchen Leads, and Bartenders who run each shift, for hitting the restaurant's financial targets, and for making sure every guest gets a great experience, every visit.

  • Own the restaurant's P&L — sales, labor cost %, food cost %, and beer/beverage cost %.
  • Build and manage weekly schedules that hit labor targets without sacrificing guest service.
  • Hire, train, and develop Shift Supervisors, Kitchen Leads, Bartenders, and all team members.
  • Build a bench of leaders who can run a shift to standard without you in the building.
  • Hold the team accountable to Board & Brew standards for speed, accuracy, cleanliness, and quality.
  • Maintain full working knowledge of every position in the restaurant — Kitchen, Bar, Cashier, Expo — and step in when needed.
  • Walk the floor during every shift, engage guests, and resolve complaints on the spot.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service (ABC) requirements at all times.
  • Complete and review daily and weekly production, inventory, and accounting records.
  • Place and manage vendor orders, and understand pars for food, beer, and supplies.
  • Own opening/closing checklists and SOP compliance across all shifts and dayparts.
  • Communicate and execute company-wide programs, promotions, and menu changes at the store level.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records, scheduling records, and required certifications (food handler, alcohol service) for the team.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to grow sales and build repeat guests, including local marketing and community engagement.
  • Report equipment and facility issues promptly and manage repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Fluent in Spanish is a big plus
  • Most importantly, work hard, work fast, but have fun with it!!!
Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Kneel and follow proper lifting procedures.
  • Stand for extended periods during shifts.
  • Ability to reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures, auditory and visual skills, and manual dexterity.
