Job summary

Pinelawn Memorial Park & Arboretum in New York invites applications for a seasonal General Maintenance Worker role. You will help maintain the grounds and assist with burials, performing gardening, debris removal and equipment operation to keep the cemetery serene.

The position requires weekend work, outdoor endurance, and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. Valid driver's license and English communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Pick up and clean debris, weeds and other cleaning and maintenance activities as needed (pick-up soil, snow, leaves, etc.).
• Perform gardening and landscaping tasks throughout the cemetery.
• Operate equipment such as tampers, jackhammers, bronze trimmers, and other heavy equipment as needed.
• Lift and move bronze memorials, cement foundations, sod, plywood, etc.
• Carry caskets during internments and entombments, as required during the day-to-day cemetery operations.

We are seeking General Maintenance Workers to join our team and assist with keeping the grounds in their beautiful, serene state, all while helping with the preparation and conduction of burials.

Please note that this is a seasonal/temporary position starting on or around March 2026.

Job Duties

Minimum Requirements

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work outdoors under any weather conditions
• Must be able to remain on feet for continuous periods of time
• Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
• Must be able to walk considerable distances during the course of the work-shift
• Must be able to lift, rise and lower objects from one level to another
• Must be able to pull, push, and carry large amounts of weight (50-100 lbs.) at any given time

Pay Rate: $28.76 per hour
