Job summary

Tigua-Inc in Brownsville, TX is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to perform a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks at several land port facilities. You must pass a government background check and drug screening and be available for after-hours shifts and travel as needed.

The role requires experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and building maintenance, plus the ability to read schematics and manuals. A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Heavy lifting up to 50-80 lbs.
• Available for after-hours and weekend on-call support.
• Must pass government background check (NACI) and drug screen.
• HSPD-12 clearance required.
• OSHA-10 certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, blueprints and schematics.
• Willing to travel with possible overnight stays.
• 2–3 years’ basic electrical, mechanical and computer technology experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structures.
• Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues.
• Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance monthly.
• Maintain records of work orders, inspections, and repairs.
• Ensure safety regulations and protocols are followed.
• Collaborate with maintenance staff and contractors to complete projects.
• Provide emergency response and repairs to minimize downtime.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment.
• Assist in maintenance schedules and procedures
• Respond to Priority 1 work orders immediately, including weekends and holidays.
• Respond to Priority 2 work orders within 30 minutes by phone and be on site within 1 hour plus travel.
• Respond to Priority 3 work orders within 30 days.
• Travel to and from each port of entry as required.

Position Summary : The General Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and facilities located at several land port of entries in the South Texas, Brownsville area. The ideal candidate must be able to pass government background investigation and drug screening.

This role supports a potential contract.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural components.
• Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to ensure timely and effective resolutions.
• Conduct inspections and monthly preventive maintenance to identify potential problems and mitigate risks.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors to complete projects efficiently.
• Provide emergency response and repairs as needed to minimize downtime and maintain operational integrity.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment necessary for maintenance tasks.
• Assist in the implementation of maintenance schedules and procedures
• Must be able to respond to a Priority 1 work order immediately, this includes weekends and holidays. Communication must be made to Tigua to provide a detailed status update to be entered into Maximo.

• The HSPD-12 is the background check in compliance to the Customs and Border Patrol/LPOE standard

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or related field preferred
• 2–3 years’ experience in basic electrical, mechanical, and computer technology experience.

Conditions of Employment

• May be required to serve a probationary period.
• An Employment and Financial Interest Statement is required.
• This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Clearance Required: Must be able to pass a government background investigation.

Travel: Travel to and from each port of entry is required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work : This is a full-time position, where you will be required to be on call 24/7,Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
