Job summary

Perfection Hy-Test Company is seeking a maintenance professional to perform regular preventative maintenance and general upkeep on equipment and facilities in Charleston, SC. The role requires understanding of machine control, electrical and mechanical maintenance, and safe operation of tools.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and prior maintenance experience; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; 2 years maintenance experience preferred.
  • Formal electrical or mechanical maintenance experience or schooling.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
  • Valid driver’s license required; forklift and other vehicle operation may be needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on existing equipment.
  • Notify supervisor of recurring malfunctions and corrective actions.
  • Monitor facility systems for efficient operation.
  • Perform carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks as needed.
  • Follow Lockout-Tagout procedures and keep maintenance area organized.

Under direct supervision, performs routine maintenance and repair of equipment and general facilities upkeep. Performs preventative maintenance, such as changing fluids, replacing filters, adjusting tension, cleaning intakes and cold-air returns, etc. Must be able to operate forklift, and may operate an order picker. Schedule is Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm and overtime as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all existing equipment
  • Notifies supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken and of quality problems or supplies needed
  • Informs supervisor of potentially dangerous electrical equipment and corrective actions taken
  • Monitor facility systems to ensure correct and efficient operations
  • Perform general carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks as needed
  • Wears protective equipment as necessary
  • Recommends new and/or replacement purchases of equipment as required
  • Keep the maintenance room clean and organized
  • Follows Lock out-Tag out process
Requirements

  • Basic understanding of machine control and automation
  • Formal Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance experience or schooling
  • Skill in the operation of tools and equipment
  • Ability to safely drive various vehicles (man lift, forklift, company vehicle, etc...)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, and managers
  • Ability to work independently
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma
  • 2 years of prior maintenance experience
  • Valid Drivers License is required
  • Preferred: 2 year A.S. degree in Industrial Maintenance or Electronics
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret basic instructions and required documents.
  • Has the ability to respond and communicate complicated instructions and basic directions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence accurately

Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions Able to sit, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms Able to lift 75lbs Frequent bending at waist/knees, frequent twisting waist/neck in the normal range Frequent climbing and balancing while working on ladders

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The normal amount of sitting and standing, above average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct a normal amount of work on a computer.
