Job summary

Hyatt Centric Philadelphia is seeking a Maintenance Engineer responsible for the overall maintenance and functionality of the hotel property, not limited to guest rooms, front of house, back of house and public areas. You will perform trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

The role requires self-motivation and the ability to work alone or as part of a team, with willingness to cover varied shifts, including afternoons/evenings

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel maintenance or related field preferred.
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing and carpentry issues.
• Strong focus on safety and adherence to hotel standards.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain facility building and equipment.
• Handle guest room maintenance requests in a timely fashion.
• Perform preventative maintenance throughout the property (mechanical, electrical, painting, carpentry, plumbing).
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and respond to service requests promptly.
• Ensure tools and equipment are secured and properly stored.
• Assist in emergencies to protect guests and staff and preserve systems.
• Follow Hyatt standards, safety procedures, and departmental policies.
• Provide attentive, friendly, and service-oriented interactions with guests and colleagues.

Estimated Schedule to include PM Shifts of 3:00pm-11:00pm with a guaranteed two days off. Prefer someone who can be willing to learn all shifts and must be able to work holidays and weekends.

Guaranteed consecutive Days off unless requested otherwise.

• Repair and maintain facility building and equipment
• Handle guest room maintenance requests in a timely fashion
• Perform preventative maintenance throughout the property such as mechanical, electrical, painting, carpentry and plumbing
• Maintain accurate maintenance records
• Respond and resolve engineering service requests in courteous, efficient manner
• Maintain engineering work area in an orderly and clean fashion
• Ensure all tools/equipment used are returned to the shop and/or secured in proper storage area
• Assist in handling emergencies in order to protect our guests and team members and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency
• Follow proper lost and found procedures for items left behind in a guest room
• Report any items in need of repair
• Follow all safety procedures while working
• Comply at all times with Hyatt standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
• Follow all hotel and departmental procedures and policies
• Perform any other duties as requested by management
• Approach all encounters with guests and colleagues in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner

Qualifications

• Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred
• Ability to be effective in handling opportunities in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
• Ability to be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying the issues raised by colleagues and guests
• Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
• Ability to complete heavy work - exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Must work afternoon/evening shifts for weekends & be flexible to cover vacations & time off requests
