Job description

Responsible for lubricating and maintaining plant equipment to prevent equipment wear, reduce friction, and avoid costly production downtime by ensuring all moving parts are properly greased, oiled, and inspected. Support Maintenance whenever necessary to help facilitate reduced downtime and costly repairs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply lubricants to heavy machinery, gearboxes, bearings, chains, and conveyors according to manufacturer specifications
  • Conduct daily and weekly visual inspections of plant equipment to check for leaks, unusual noises, or signs of wear
  • Monitor, sample, and replenish industrial fluids (e.g., hydraulic oils, coolants, and circulating oils)
  • Swap out clogged or dirty air, oil, and hydraulic filters to maintain system efficiency
  • Assist maintenance technicians or mechanics when extra hands are necessary (e.g., lifting and positioning)
  • May complete repairs and replacements under the direction of a maintenance technician, mechanic or supervisor
  • Clean and sweep the facility, clean up spills, replenish supplies, and sort recyclables and move them to the proper receptacle
  • Operate a forklift or other material handling equipment
  • Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to Maintenance Planner
  • Monitor and assist with parts stocking
  • Maintain accurate and complete records; ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information
  • Keep CMMS system (MVP1) up to date by completing work orders in the system daily
  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 0 to 1 year of maintenance, construction, warehouse, or related experience
  • Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment
