Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Represent local and national clients throughout California.
  • Develop case strategy and independently manage assigned caseloads.
  • Take and defend plaintiff and expert depositions.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trial.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
  • Analyze discovery and develop appropriate litigation strategies.

A highly respected California law firm is expanding its General Liability Litigation team and is seeking an experienced attorney to join its practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong litigator who enjoys handling complex matters and wants to work with a firm representing both local and national clients.

The position offers a hybrid work schedule with 2 days per week in the office.

The Opportunity

You will have the opportunity to take ownership of a diverse litigation caseload while working on sophisticated matters involving a variety of industries and liability issues. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing cases independently and has strong deposition, motion practice, research, and writing experience.

Responsibilities
  • Manage litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Represent local and national clients throughout California
  • Develop case strategy and independently manage assigned caseloads
  • Take and defend plaintiff and expert depositions
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trial
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents
  • Analyze discovery and develop appropriate litigation strategies
  • Conduct detailed legal research and provide strategic legal analysis
  • Participate in negotiations, mediations, settlement discussions, and court proceedings
  • Assist with trial preparation and provide courtroom support
  • Prepare and electronically file court documents and serve opposing counsel
  • Maintain organized case files and accurate time records
  • Stay current on relevant legal and industry developments
  • Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to achieve client objectives
Ideal Candidate
  • 3+ years of litigation experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • General Liability
    • Premises Liability
    • Product Liability
    • Transportation
    • Aviation
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar license and in good standing
  • Strong deposition and motion practice experience
  • Experience taking lead on plaintiff and/or expert depositions
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently while also contributing to a collaborative team
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop effective strategies
