Yates Industries, Inc. in Ohio is seeking a General Laborer to support daily plant operations in a manufacturing environment focused on hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders. The role emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety to keep production areas free of debris and hazards.
You will perform routine cleaning, material handling, and minor tasks, follow PPE and safety procedures, and assist production teams with requests as needed in a fast-paced industrial setting.
The General Laborer supports daily plant operations by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the manufacturing facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that production areas remain free of debris, waste, and safety hazards, allowing manufacturing teams to focus on efficient and uninterrupted production of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.
Key responsibilities include handling steel chip hoppers, emptying trash, sweeping and mopping shop areas, maintaining restrooms and cafeteria spaces, and ensuring outside areas such as parking lots and pallet storage are kept orderly. The General Laborer also performs regular walk-throughs to proactively address housekeeping needs and maintain compliance with company cleanliness and safety standards.
This position requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision. The General Laborer must be comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment, performing physically active duties, and adhering to safety protocols at all times. By supporting shop cleanliness and material handling, the General Laborer contributes directly to the plant’s efficiency, safety, and overall operational success.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses and hard sole/close toed shoes with a low heel when walking through the manufacturing shop and/or repair shop whether as part of performing their job or just passing through. In addition, long hair must be tied back when around hazards of flame, machinery, or equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
