Job summary

Genesis Rail Company seeks a General Laborer – Railroad to perform physical labor and maintenance on tracks, equipment, and facilities, outdoors in all weather. The role may require travel, overtime, and irregular hours to support safe rail operations.

Responsibilities include assisting with load adjustments, moving materials and tools, basic inspections, following safety policies, documenting task details, and keeping work areas organized for efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Entry-level experience or willingness to learn mechanical and load adjustment support tasks.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and safety procedures.
• Comfortable working in physically active roles, including lifting and moving materials.
• Basic understanding of tools, equipment handling, and safe work practices.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate simple records.
• Ability to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Assist the with preparation, setup, and support tasks for mechanical load adjustments.
• Move, stage, and organize materials, tools, and equipment as directed.
• Perform basic inspections and report issues or safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and site procedures.
• Support documentation by recording task completion, material usage, and any relevant notes.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient operations.
• Coordinate with team members to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Participate in training and follow-up coaching to improve job performance.

This position supports the safe and efficient operation of rail systems through tasks such as inspecting tracks, replacing ties and rails, clearing brush, and operating various tools and machinery. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and may require travel, overtime, and irregular hours.
