Job summary

Barnhill Contracting Company in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a General Laborer to support asphalt paving and grading crews. You will perform unskilled tasks, assist with spotter duties for trucks and equipment, and learn multiple site trades on the job.

Training will be provided; a valid NC driver’s license is encouraged, and candidates must be able to work long hours, weekends, and abide by safety rules to keep everyone on the team safe and productive.

Qualifications

• One year experience preferred but training will be provided.
• Encourage a valid NC Driver's License.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and follow safety policies.
• Maintain good attendance and safety record; able to work weekends/nights.

Responsibilities

• Performs unskilled tasks related to asphalt paving or grading.
• Assists with shoveling asphalt, stone or dirt and uses basic hand tools.
• May operate a farm-type tractor with power broom attachment.
• Serve as designated spotter, with training provided.
• Comply with all safety rules and company policies.

This includes but not limited shoveling asphalt, stone or dirt.* Uses various tools such as a shovel, rake, lute, broom, pick, hammer, saw, pneumatic hammer, drill, tamp and concrete saw.* May operate a farm type tractor with power broom attachment.* Perform duties of the designated spotter of which training will be conducted.**Minimum Qualifications & Training:*** One year experience but will train the right person* Encourage a valid NC Drivers License* Willingness to learn multiple task* Ability to abide by precise instructions and strict but necessary safety rules and policies.* Maintain a good attendance and safety record.* Ability to work weekends and some nights.**Tasks Essential to Job Functions:*** The job requires the following motions: standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching and squatting.* Requires regular lifting of or in excess of 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.* Walking and standing may require a full day of 12 to 15 hours.* Will be exposed to sometimes extreme hot and cold temperatures.* Job requires riding to and from work.
