Job summary

BRT Extrusions in Niles, OH is seeking General Labor Utility Workers to join the Extrusions team. You will load aluminum shapes onto steel racks, collaborate with teammates, and learn to detect defects to prevent nonconformities.

Shifts are typically 8 hours, and overtime may be required as business needs change. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and willingness to work across departments as needed to support production.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age to work in the plant.
• Must be able to work at a steady pace to keep up with material flow.
• Should know how to read a tape measure or can be trained to learn how to read measurements.
• Must follow all Extrusion Department procedures and guidelines.
• Must be able to work OT depending on production needs.
• Must be willing to work in other departments as needed.
• Must have ability to read and understand basic instructions (Spanish instructions are provided as needed).
• Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Should have average math skills as this position loads material into racks in sets/rows.
• Must have good attendance - show up for work every day you are scheduled.
• Must be willing to participate in all required job trainings including safety and technical trainings.

Responsibilities

• Load aluminum shapes onto steel racks as instructed by Supervisor and Saw Operator.
• Follow material stacking specs to ensure product is loaded properly and defects are avoided.
• Keep empty racks prepped and prepared for loading.
• Use basic hand tools and a manual strapping tool throughout the shift.
• Ensure all saw chips are removed from extrusions with air guns provided.
• May work as a "Middleman" assisting Stretcher Operators to move long pieces of aluminum across the cooling table.
• Keep work area clean throughout the shift, especially when production is slow or presses are maintained.
• Move metal product and/or materials/racks manually as required.
• May learn specific extrusion positions to become cross trained and fill in when necessary.
• Comply with Company policies including safety policies.

Job Location: NILES, OH 44446, Position Overview: BRT Extrusions, located in Niles, OH, is looking for general labor utility workers to join our expanding Extrusions department. This position entails loading extruded aluminum shapes into steel racks, working closely with team members, and learning about material defects to prevent nonconformities from being processed. Shifts are generally 8 hours, but OT may be required as business needs/volume change.

Essential duties of the Extrusions Utility Worker

• Load aluminum shapes onto steel racks as instructed by Supervisor and Saw Operator


• Follow material stacking specs to ensure product is loaded properly and defects are avoided


• Keep empty racks prepped and prepared for loading


• Use basic hand tools and a manual strapping tool throughout the shift


• Ensure all saw chips are removed from extrusions with air guns provided


• May work as a "Middleman" depending on the extrusion press assigned to you, this entails helping the Stretcher Operators move long pieces of aluminum across the cooling table


• Keep work area clean throughout the shift, when production is slow, or extrusion press is under maintenance

Physical requirements of the Extrusions Utility Worker

This position requires the individual to work in a factory/manufacturing environment. The temperatures can fluctuate from hot to cold and the noise level is high. An individual in this role will be able to walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn, climb, and push/pull frequently. With proper safety equipment, an individual in this role may work above ground level (off the ground) occasionally. An individual in this role will need to be always aware of movement and/or noises around them. An individual in this role must move 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally. An individual in this role will remain stationary and/or traverse the factory as needed per essential duties of the position. An individual in this role will be an effective communicator verbally and in writing, and this role requires individuals to read and follow written procedures.
