Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a production team member at our Alabama plant to support a manufacturing operation, boost productivity, reduce downtime, and maintain safety and quality standards. You will work closely with fellow crew members and supervisors to keep machines running efficiently.

The position requires flexibility for overtime and weekend work, availability for 1st or 2nd shift, and a strong attendance record.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be willing to work overtime and weekends.
• Must be able to work 1st and 2nd Shift (1st Shift 5:30AM to 6:30PM / 2nd shift 6:30PM to 5:30AM).
• Must have a good attendance record.
• Experience in a packaging/manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support a manufacturing operation to increase productivity and reduce downtime and waste.
• Assist all jobs on the plant floor and participate in facilities work.
• Follow all safety rules and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
• Maintain shop and equipment per 5S standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• May stack parts up to 30 lbs for up to 12 hours.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team in support of a manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity; decreasing downtime and waste.
• Assume active role in overall plant and facilities-related work. Position requires assisting all jobs on the plant floor.
• Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures.
• Maintain shop and shop equipment per 5S Standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
• May be required to stack parts up to 30 lbs. for a period of up to 12 hours.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.

• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Possess an understanding that temperatures and volumes of work may vary.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting salary for position: $17.55+.
• Bonus: Annual - Based upon achievement of plant performance metrics.
• Paid Vacation: 1 week per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
• Paid Holidays.
• Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision -- and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
• Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
