Job summary

UFP Industries in Granger, IN is seeking a general laborer to safely handle lumber products and verify materials meet customer requirements and company expectations. This role focuses on physical work, accurate labeling, stacking, and maintaining orderly work areas.

Responsibilities include moving materials, securing loads, recording production, and participating in safety and CI programs. No heavy experience required; 18+ and basic math skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• No minimum experience required; manufacturing or lumber experience preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Move and secure lumber products and materials per instructions.
• Stack finished products to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements.
• Label material by type, size, and count.
• Apply individual tags to material before/after treating/production.
• Use a staple gun and troubleshoot equipment.
• Band, bundle and secure material and attach corner protectors and loading sticks.
• Follow stacking instructions per company policy and customer requirements.
• Ensure correct quantities and material are strapped and labeled before leaving the work area.
• Maintain inventory of tags and report problems to supervisor.
• Record production on production sheets.
• Keep a clean and organized work area.
• Assist with other areas by moving material and loading/unloading carts.
• Participate in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.
• Perform other duties as required.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities

• Moves and secures lumber products and other materials according to instructions
• Stacks finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements
• Labels material based on the following specifications: type, size, and count
• Applies individual tags to material before/after treating/production
• Uses a staple gun and troubleshoots equipment
• Bands, bundles and secures material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticks
• Follows instructions for stacking material properly and according to company policy and customer requirements
• Ensures correct quantities and material are strapped, and labeled before leaving the work area
• Maintains accurate inventory of tags and reports any problems or discrepancies to supervisor
• Records production on production sheets
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
• Assists with other work areas by moving material, loading and unloading material carts
• Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings
• Performs other duties as required
