Britt Medical Search is assisting a well-established Gastroenterology and Hepatology specialty practice in Los Angeles, CA area to recruit a BE/BC Gastroenterologist. The group specializes in adult GI, hepatology, and advanced endoscopy with a focus on high-quality patient care.

The role involves outpatient and inpatient endoscopy, supervision of APPs, and call coverage on a structured schedule. Malpractice coverage and health insurance are provided as part of the compensation package.

Qualifications

• Fellowship training in hepatology is a plus
• Experience in adult GI and endoscopy preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive GI and hepatology care for adults.
• Perform outpatient procedures (EGD, colonoscopy) and endoscopic techniques.
• Supervise and collaborate with APPs; participate in rounds and consultations.
• Manage high-volume patient flow with emphasis on quality and safety.
• Participate in weekend call and hospital coverage as needed

Job description

Seeking BE/BC Gastroenterologist to join Gastroenterology and Hepatology specialty practice in Los Angeles, CA area. Group specializes in all areas of adult Gastroenterology (Digestive system diseases), Hepatology (Liver disorders) and routine as well as advanced Endoscopic techniques.

• Team of 2 MDs and 3 NPs
• ERCP available but bulk of work is EGD, Colonoscopy, PEG
• Schedule
  • Mornings: scheduled outpatient procedures at the surgery centers and hospitals.
  • Afternoons: inpatient procedures at the hospitals.
  • Supervision and support of APPs with consultations and rounds as needed.
  • Weekends: Supervision of APPs and emergency procedures when indicated.
• Call: Every third weekend; weeknight call shared equally among the group's physicians.
• Team size: 3 MDs, 9 APPs
• Heavy patient volume
• Salary: $500K+

• Large, diverse referral base, including preferred-provider status with the largest managed care organizations in the San Fernando Valley.
• Compensated contracts with both hospitals for GI coverage of patients admitted under the hospitalist group, who account for the majority of admissions.
• Internal medicine hospitalist groups provide primary inpatient care, screening calls so that only those requiring GI specialist attention reach the gastroenterologist.
• The group's highly trained Advanced Practice Providers (NPs and PAs) handle initial evaluation, management, follow-up care and documentation for inpatients and outpatients, under gastroenterologist supervision and collaboration.
• APPs rotate weekend inpatient coverage, including consultations, follow-up care and documentation, supervised by the on-call gastroenterologist.
• Both hospitals offer advanced endoscopic capabilities and anesthesia support for all inpatient cases.
• Both surgery centers provide anesthesia coverage for all cases.
