Job summary

Matrix Service Company in Clarksville, Arkansas, is seeking a seasoned Boilermaker supervisor to lead foremen and craft workers on site, plan daily activities, and ensure adherence to ASME/NBIC standards.

You will interpret drawings, coordinate manpower and equipment, and supervise safety practices for high-risk tasks in boiler and pressure vessel projects. A strong supervision background in refinery maintenance or turnaround is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four years in supervision in refinery maintenance/turnaround/construction.
  • General knowledge of power and hand tools.
  • Pass Boilermaker Skills Test at 70% or NCCER certification.
  • Complete Matrix Safety training, Process Safety Management training and site-specific training.

Job Summary

Works under the direction of site supervision /upper management. Responsible for Planning work schedules and match crew members to appropriate jobs based on skill. Must possess a high level of skills in industrial, maintenance, turnaround, data centers construction / or mechanical environment. Also, must be able to lay-out, fabricate, assemble, bolt-up, flanges, valves, erect or make repairs for all types of structural, boiler and plate work.

Job Functions
  • Provides overall leadership, directions, and supervision to multiple boilermaker foremen and craft workers across a job site, facility, or shutdown/turnaround
  • Plans, lay out, and coordinate daily work activities, schedules, and sequencing with superintendents, project managers, and other trade supervisors to maintain project milestones
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, contract specifications, and industry standards (such as ASME or NBIC codes) to ensure structural and pressure vessel integrity
  • Monitor daily output, record hours, and report project status back to management
  • Comprehend and execute work assignments across shop and field environments
  • Guide apprentices and journeymen on proper technique and trade practices
  • Lead toolbox talks, inspect gear, and scan the job site for active hazards
  • Oversee high-risk tasks often performed at great heights or inside confined spaces
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics and determine corresponding tools and material needs for operational workflows
  • Coordinate the deployment of manpower, heavy equipment, tools, and specialty materials to prevent downtime or workflow bottlenecks
  • Track daily production goals, report schedule constraints, log manpower needs, and handle field administrative paperwork or client interfacing
  • Guide foremen and coach apprentice boilermakers on technical craft skills, safety habits, and trade standards
  • Must be able to use straightedges, trammels, dividers, squares, tapes, shop Power tools, use of geometry to locate lines, centers, angles, bends and radii, make allowances for shrinkage, expansion, load and stress as identified by design engineer
  • Must be able to do field sketches and measurements on repair and construction jobs
  • Must be able to operate shop machines such as pantograph, bending rolls, plate shear, punch press, to fabricate parts
  • Must know and able to use wrenches, pneumatic hammer, dolly, portable drills, reamers, grinders and torch for fitting and bolting assemblies
  • Must be proficient in connecting and securing structural steel (beams, plates, channels, angles) via bolting or alternative fastening techniques
  • Must be proficient in operating manual and mechanical lifting equipment, including block and tackle systems, hoists, and winches, to safely position heavy assemblies
  • Must be able to dismantle, install, repair, and erect fabricated steel structures for boiler and pressure vessel projects
  • Inspect and perform hydrostatic or pneumatic pressure tests on boiler tubes and pressure vessels
  • Perform full-lifecycle heat exchanger services, including inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair
  • Execute rigging tasks and direct crane operators using standard OSHA-compliant hand signals
  • Proficiency with standard shop equipment , including rolls, shears, drill presses, and band saws
  • Must be able to identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years in supervision or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/or construction experience
  • Must have a general knowledge of power and hand tools
  • Must be able to pass the Boilermaker Skills Test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft
  • Must Complete Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client / Site specific training
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active status within the approved drug testing program

  • Must have a Valid Driver's License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be willing to work overtime
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial work platforms
  • Must be able to work may include pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools
  • Must be able to perform work, including frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots
