Job description

Position: General Fleet Mechanic

As a Fleet Mechanic/Technician, you will utilize your diesel mechanic education to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel tractors. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications, and repairs on tractors, trailers, and other equipment.

Requirements and Skills:

1. Must have own tools.
2. A valid driver’s license is required.
3. Minimum of 3 years tractor/trailer experience.
4. General maintenance skills for tractors and trailers.
5. Basic computer skills for data entry into maintenance software systems (labor tracking, work orders, parts data entry, parts core return).
6. Experience with engine components such as starters, alternators, etc.
7. Cooling system maintenance, including radiator removal and replacement, coolant pumps, engine fan clutches.
8. Front-end maintenance: tie rod ends, drag links, kingpins, alignment.
9. Suspension system maintenance: air bags, valves, springs, hangers.
10. DPF maintenance.
11. Basic ABS diagnosis and repair.
12. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
13. Ability to complete full tractor preventive maintenance independently.
14. Positive attitude, safety-conscious work ethic, and punctuality.
15. Ability to follow directions and repair procedures accurately.
16. Good interaction skills with drivers.
17. Air Brake certification required.
18. Welding and light fabrication skills are a plus.
19. Experience with Freightliner Cascadia and Detroit Diesel DD platform preferred.
