Air Force Materiel Command is seeking a professional General Engineer to support acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems and related subsystems and equipment. The role follows OPM standards for general schedules and requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The position demands applying engineering disciplines to sustainment programs, developing criteria, and communicating with diverse stakeholders.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a professional General Engineer in support of the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, sub-systems, support systems, equipment items, or an equivalent product.
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific positions.
College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in multidisciplinary professional engineering work applying electronics, mechanical, aerospace, or other engineering disciplines to the acquisition, development, and sustainment of weapon systems and support equipment, developing system performance requirements, conducting complex analyses, and serving as a technical consultant. Experience also includes applying engineering methodologies, standard acquisition regulations, and logistics principles to sustainment programs, devising design criteria, assessing new technologies, analyzing facts to recommend solutions, and communicating technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
