Overview

Aanatomy and Physiology Instructor


Part Time


$42-44 /HR DOE


The instructor’s primary responsibility is to provide active, effective instruction in Anatomy and Physiology I, Anatomy and Physiology II, and Microbiology for students enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program. The instructor will deliver high-quality classroom and laboratory instruction, connect biological and microbiological concepts to dental and health-science applications, assess student learning, maintain accurate academic records, and support student engagement and satisfaction. The instructor will also serve as a professional and academic role model, follow approved curriculum and institutional policies, promote safe laboratory practices, and ensure instruction reflects current scientific knowledge and educational best practices.


Responsibilities


  • Organize and deliver class objectives in a clear, concise manner

  • Foster and maintain an orderly, controlled, and safe environment for students in classrooms and labs

  • Maintain and prepare training aids, tools, and equipment in the classroom and lab

  • Maintain curriculum accuracy by keeping up to date on industry standards and practices

  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical assessments

  • Provide constructive feedback and support to students to help them achieve academic and professional success

  • Identify and report on any at-risk students; creates individualized success plans to mitigate attrition

  • Foster relationships with students to help them meet program competency requirements

  • Provide periodic and ad-hoc reporting to stakeholders

  • Meet with students and education personnel to discuss instructional programs and related issues

  • Provide and maintain regular, substantive interaction with students in online course components

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress

  • Deliver engaging lectures and lab sessions on assigned topics, diagnostic procedures, equipment operation and troubleshooting, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required Qualifications



  • Master’s degree or higher in Biology, Biological Sciences, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related field from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

  • A minimum of 15 semester credit hours in the applicable biological-sciences specialty or content area.

  • Documented academic preparation in human anatomy, human physiology, microbiology, and related laboratory sciences appropriate to the assigned courses.

  • Academic qualifications sufficient to teach Anatomy and Physiology I, Anatomy and Physiology II, and Microbiology, as verified through review of official transcripts.

  • Appropriate laboratory education and experience to support instruction in courses that include laboratory components.

  • Ability to communicate complex biological and microbiological concepts clearly and relate them to dental hygiene and other health-science applications.

  • Ability to assess student learning, maintain accurate academic records, and comply with institutional policies, curriculum requirements, and academic standards.

  • Ability to provide official transcripts and any other documentation required for faculty credentialing before a teaching assignment is finalized.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective instruction and interaction with students and colleagues

  • Familiarity with learning management systems, student-engagement strategies, and instructional methods appropriate for adult learners.

  • Experience supporting students who require tutoring, academic intervention, or additional reinforcement in foundational science course.

  • Commitment to ongoing learning and participation in professional growth opportunities

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.

  • On campus and on site work locations include exposure to student learning environments with a variety of conditions. Employees must be able to follow all safety precautions including the use of personal-protective equipment. Employees must also be able to adhere to site-specific safety procedures.

  • No travel required.


Preferred Qualifications





    • Doctorate in Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related discipline.

    • Previous teaching experience at the college or postsecondary level.

    • Demonstrated ability to teach across the full biological-sciences sequence, including Anatomy and Physiology I and II and Microbiology.

    • Experience teaching both lecture and laboratory courses.

    • Experience teaching students enrolled in Dental Hygiene, nursing, allied health, or other health-sciences programs.
