Job summary

Harford County Health Dept Dental Clinic in Maryland seeks a General Dentist to provide professional, friendly, high-quality dental care for adults, pregnant women, and children receiving Medical Assistance. This contractual role offers 1–3 days per week, 8:00am–4:30pm, on-site.

Responsibilities include routine exams, restorations, simple extractions, radiographs interpretation, treatment planning, patient education, and safe nitrous oxide administration. Licensure requirements, bilingual a plus.

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
• 1–2 years of dental experience.
• Maryland State Dental License, unrestricted.
• Maryland CDS Registration.
• Malpractice insurance.

Position Summary:

This position contributes to the successful operation of the Harford County Health Department Dental Clinic by providing professional, friendly, and high-quality dental care for adults, pregnant women, and children who receive Medical Assistance. This contractual position will work 1-3 days per week (flexible days) from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Role Description:

The General Dentist will provide dental services to adults, pregnant women and children in conformity with clinic protocols and the Code of Ethics of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Some of the essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• performs routine dental examinations, restorative work, and simple extractions
• promotes oral health and disease prevention
• creates treatment plans to maintain or restore the oral health of patients
• interprets radiographs and diagnostic tests
• ensures safe administration of nitrous oxide
• educates patients and their parents or legal guardians on maintaining proper oral health

Qualifications:

Education:

Valid Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.

Experience:

Minimum of 1-2 years' experience.

Licensure:

• Maryland State Dental License, unrestricted (required)
• Maryland CDS Registration (required)
• Malpractice insurance (required)

Preferred:

• Public Health or Community/Rural Health Center experience a plus
• Ability to navigate electronic dental record system
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
• Spanish language skills highly desired.
