Job summary

Lakeland Vascular is seeking a General/Breast Sonographer for its outpatient radiology/imaging team in Lakeland, FL. The role involves performing a range of ultrasound procedures with a focus on breast imaging and patient care, following radiologist protocols.

The successful candidate will have an RDMS credential, be able to work with the team, and demonstrate strong patient communication and safety awareness in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in the Sonography field preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of a course in Ultrasound; Current RDMS certification is required.
• Current Breast and/or RVT certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine general and breast ultrasound procedures following the radiologist's protocols.
• Position patients and ensure the physician prescription and scan match.
• Inputs all required patient information into the system, including protocol and history.
• Obtains complete and detailed history to assist the radiologist with diagnosis.
• Explains the exam to patients to ensure safety and cooperation.
• Assists radiologist during breast biopsies, reviews consent forms and ensures signatures.
• Maintains exam rooms by stocking supplies and reporting equipment malfunctions.
• Windows and levels images for film printing and burns CDs as necessary.
• Promotes teamwork and performs other duties as required.
• Provides consistent customer service.

JOB SUMMARY

The Sonographer performs a variety of ultrasound procedures in an outpatient setting while maintaining a high

level of customer service and quality patient care. The administration of the Sonographer includes performing routine

general and breast ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist and demonstrating

compassion to ensure overall patient satisfaction.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Performs routine general and breast ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist.
• Patients are positioned and scanned correctly assuring that the physician prescription and scan are the same.
• 2. Properly inputs all required patient information into the system including protocol, patient history in full
• sentences, performing providers, and any additional information to the radiologist regarding the procedure.
• 3. Obtains complete and detailed history to assist the radiologist with diagnosis from each patient. Performs exams
• in an accurate and timely manner.
• 4. Properly identifies patients and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Explains
• the exam to each patient to ensure patient safety and cooperation.
• 5. Assists the radiologist during breast biopsies while following OSHA and universal precautions. Reviews consent
• forms with patients and answers any questions regarding the procedure, and ensures that the radiologist and patient
• sign the consent forms. Properly labels the specimen containers and fills out any necessary paperwork accurately.
• 6. Maintains exam rooms by stocking exam rooms with necessary supplies. Maintains equipment and reports any
• equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or appropriate service provider.
• 7. Properly windows and levels images for film printing and burns CDs as necessary.
• 8. Promotes teamwork by assisting other staff as needed. Performs other duties as required.

WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• 3 or more years in the Sonography field is preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of a course in Ultrasound; Current RDMS certification is required.
• Current Breast and/or RVT certifications are preferred.

SKILLS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Skills in properly positioning patients and obtaining diagnostic images, identifying equipment problems,
• establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and public.
• This job requires prolonged sitting or standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching; Must be able to see with or
• without corrective eyewear, must be able to hear clearly, with or without assistance. This position may require lifting
