KUOW in Seattle is seeking a General Assignment Reporter to join our newsroom. The Reporter will contribute to daily coverage, report diverse stories for broadcast and digital audiences, and build sources.
You will pitch assignments, produce 2–3 stories per week, meet daily filing deadlines (with occasional evenings and weekends), respond to breaking news, and appear on KUOW programs and podcasts. This is a regular, full-time role requiring strong journalism and collaboration.
KUOW has an outstanding opportunity for a General Assignment Reporter [Reporter 2 (NE SAG-AFTRA)] to join their team.
Reporting to the Afternoon News Editor, the General Assignment Reporter is responsible for regularly contributing to KUOW’s daily news coverage, finding and reporting stories for broadcast and digital audiences. The GA reporter tackles a wide variety of stories: hard news, breaking news, hyperlocal stories, explainers, continuing coverage, profiles, trend stories and occasional enterprise work.
Original reporting – 80%
This position performs essential services and may be required to work during any period of declared suspended operation.
