Job description

General Assignment/Public Safety Reporter-Great Falls Tribune

The Great Falls Tribune is seeking a general assignment reporter - with a special emphasis on public safety, police, courts and breaking news - to join a growing newspaper with a storied history and a bright future in Montana.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hard-charging but thoughtful reporter who can jump on breaking news, cover public safety and pitch in on a wide range of coverage in the Treasure State's third-most populous city.

We are looking for an ambitious reporter who can handle multiple assignments and deadlines, urgently produce multiple stories each day, shoot their own photos and build sources in a community that's eager for local news.

This is a great opportunity to range across numerous beats, going where the day's news takes you while also finding opportunities to dig into deeper topics.

Applicants with some newspaper experience are preferred, but recent journalism graduates are welcome to apply.

The Tribune recently joined a network of six Lee Enterprises newspapers located in Montana's largest markets, lending it the reporting capacity of those five other newsrooms as well as a state bureau that covers politics in Big Sky Country.
