Job summary

At Atlassian, we are seeking a Principal ML Systems Engineer to lead GenAI products and knowledge innovations in the US. You will design scalable training, fine-tuning, and serving systems for large language models and embeddings, and build rapid experimentation pipelines.

You will collaborate with ML engineers, backend teams, and product partners to deploy production-grade GenAI services, optimize latency, and advance best practices in deployment and monitoring.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in ML systems engineering, backend engineering, or infrastructure roles.
• Proven ability to build and scale ML-powered services in production.
• Experience with large-scale model training, inference pipelines, or search/retrieval systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable ML systems for training, fine-tuning, and serving large language models and embeddings.
• Enable rapid prototyping with robust pipelines and tooling for experimentation.
• Collaborate across ML, backend, and product teams to ship end-to-end GenAI innovations.
